About the role
We are looking for an enthusiastic and service-oriented Bio-Image Analyst who enjoys being creative in using, testing and implementing tools for efficient and robust image analysis.
As part of our Scientific Computing team, you will support the needs of wet lab biologists by advising them on appropriate analysis strategies and implementing solutions to help them answer their research questions while considering factors such as usability and integration of solutions into existing infrastructure.

This full-time, on-site position is based in Dresden, Germany.Your Responsibilities
- Advising scientists on campus to guide them to correct software and image analysis solutions
- Building and designing scientifically rigorous and repeatable image analysis workflows using a variety of open source and commercial tools such as ImageJ/FIJI, Napari, Ilastik, Huygens, Imaris and CellProfiler
- Developing custom scripts/macros/plugins to combine, integrate and expand existing tools using python and/or ImageJ Macro
- Collaborating with research groups and imaging facilities on campus to improve imaging workflows and strategies
- Teaching and training researchers on campus on image analysis techniques and appropriate tools/programming languages
- Reviewing, testing and proposing new tools and strategies in order to keep up-to-date with current Bio-Image analysis trends
Requirements
Education & Professional Experience
A minimum of a Master’s degree (or a Bachelor's degree with 2 years' experience) in Life Science, Physics or Computer Science with demonstrated experience in a similar role with comparable goals and responsibilities.
Skills
- experience with image processing and at least one image analysis package (preferably ImageJ/Fiji)
- strong interest in applying your image processing knowledge to biology and life science
- experience with at least one programming/scripting language, preferably Python (some knowledge of Java is a plus)
- understanding of microscopy and image acquisition methods
- excellent communication skills and the ability to explain complex information in an easy-to-understand way
- service-mentality and the ability to multitask and prioritize workload
- strong team player
- fluent in English
